Newsletter for 3/5/17

This new season of the church year is a great opportunity to reflect upon what the law teaches – that we need Christ’s
atoning sacrifice. Alongside our sermon series on the book of Jonah, we will repeat several elements in the liturgy over
the next five weeks. What Wondrous Love Is This and Christ Be With Me will bookend the service each Sunday. The
Ten Commandments and the Kyrie will highlight corporate confession. Then, as the Lord assures us of forgiveness,
we will sing Amen and lift our hearts and voices to the Lord with the Gloria Patri. Finally, today especially, we give
thanks for how the Lord has blessed and preserved Parish Presbyterian Church over the past ten years. You will
notice that several of my own pieces are used as they fit the theme and season. But also, I am grateful for how the Lord
has poured out His blessing upon us through such gifted and thoughtful musicians as Greg Wilbur and Henry
Haffner. On this 10th Anniversary of Parish, it’s a joy to sing their music and celebrate the way the Lord has used
their gifts in our midst. — Nathan
